Spring Into the Season

When you’re stuck inside most of the day, it can be difficult to fully appreciate the bounty of the season. With the COVID-19 pandemic happening alongside the thick of springtime, people all over are feeling the burden of watching the beautiful world through a window. To keep yourself sane and appreciate the changing of the seasons, it can be fun to discover ways to bring the spring indoors. These simple ideas will give you a task to devote your time to and produce results that will invigorate your spirits a bit.

Bring Some Flowers Inside

You might not be able to spend long periods of time outside near other people, but you can still get outdoors for a bit each day. In the spring, the world is bursting with colorful blossoms everywhere you turn. From the trees regaining their lush canopies to the clusters of flowers growing by roadsides, you’re likely to see natural displays of vivid shades wherever you look. The next time you’re out, take note of your favorite flowers. Pick and collect whatever you are able to and bring the clippings back home with you.

Adding a few flowers to your house will help to immediately invigorate your space. Not only will the touch of color be a welcome addition to the normal color scheme of your home, but there is also something inherently magical about having plants inside. Find a vase or stylish container to display the various blossoms you collect, and you’ll start to see how a few adjustments to your decor can help mimic the season.

Eat and Drink Outside

If your home has a porch, patio, or similar outdoor area meant for sitting, you can use this to your advantage. Appreciating the season is a lot easier when you can sit outside and engage in basic activities. Drinking a cup of coffee or tea while reading a book on the deck, for example, is a lovely way to connect to the outdoors without having to actually be out in the world. Instead of eating inside, bring the whole family out to the patio for a meal amidst the warm spring breeze.

Incorporating seasonal elements into your cooking can also add a new level to your experience. Leafy greens like arugula are plentiful in the springtime, as are carrots, beets, garlic, artichokes, and asparagus. Research the various herbs, fruits, and veggies that are common throughout the season, and learn tasty ways to use them in your meals. You’ll become a more resourceful cook and feel a sense of appreciation for what the season offers the world.

Catch the Wind

There are days in the spring when the air is soft and gentle from morning until night. On such a day, consider setting up a laundry line and leaving some of your clothing out to dry. There are few experiences as comforting or refreshing as the scent of sheets that have been drying slowly in the sun throughout the afternoon. Obviously, this isn’t an activity to engage with when you need the laundry dried fast. With nothing but time to kill these days, however, it might be the perfect opportunity to develop an appreciation for classic drying methods.

Include Color in Your Wardrobe

Even when you’re sitting around your house all day, it can be important to get dressed in a purposeful manner. You might not be going out or seeing anyone, but the spring offers an easy opportunity to include color in your wardrobe. A few pops of bold color or springtime pastels can give you a sense of happiness and comfort about the future.

No matter how you decide to appreciate the season, it can be a good idea to consciously make an effort to enjoy the spring. There’s no telling when the pandemic will end, so do your best to find joy wherever possible.
