Celebrity WeddingsBeing a celebrity often brings additional challenges to a relationship. It is not uncommon for high-profile marriages to end in divorce, particularly if both partners are famous. Some unions don’t even last a year. Beyoncé and Jay-Z are two of the best-known entertainers on the planet and are currently beating the odds; they celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on April 4.

Newlyweds

  • Amber Heard and Johnny Depp

On February 5, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were married in a private civil ceremony at the actor’s Los Angeles home. Several days later, the couple tied the knot a second time on Depp’s private island in The Bahamas. The couple was introduced on the set of “The Rum Diary,” a film in which they both starred.

  • Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney

Long-proclaimed bachelor George Cooney surprised just about everyone when he announced his engagement to his girlfriend, human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin. The couple was married in a lavish ceremony in Venice on September 27 with many celebrity friends in attendance. Alamuddin chose to take her movie star husband’s last name and is now known as Amal Clooney.

  • Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

It is hard to believe Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are newlyweds, as the couple has been together since 2005 and have six kids. They were married at their estate in Correns, France on August 23, 2014. The international media has nicknamed the pair “Brangelina.”

  • Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Few couples have as much star power as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Kardashian is a reality TV star, social media personality, model and businesswoman. West is a Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, entrepreneur and fashion designer. The couple wed in a lavish ceremony in May in Florence, and has a daughter named North West.

Upcoming Nuptials

Sometimes celebrities don’t publicly announce their engagements. Sometimes they do, but don’t confirm a wedding date, which can result in a guessing game about when (and if) they will actually get married.

  • Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

Will 2015 be the year Jenifer Anniston and Justin Theroux say, “I do?” That’s a tough one. The couple has been together since 2011. They purchased a $22 million Los Angeles mansion together in January of 2012, and got engaged in August of the same year, but still, no wedding.

  • FKA twigs and Robert Pattinson

Fans of the “Twilight” movies were upset to hear that Robert Pattinson, aka Edward Cullen, is engaged. His betrothed is British singer, songwriter and dancer FKA twigs, also known as Tahliah Debrett Barnett. No date has been announced, but the couple has reportedly exchanged promise rings.

Standing the Test of Time

  • Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are both stars in their own right. She is best known for her role on the TV series “The Closer.” He has been in countless movies including “Footloose,” “Apollo 13” and “Mystic River.” They have been married for 26 years.

  • Patti Hansen and Keith Richards

Most people probably wouldn’t predict a member of the rock group The Rolling Stones to have a long-lasting marriage, but Keith Richards has. He and model Patti Hansen were married in 1983 on Richard’s 40th birthday. Mick Jagger was the best man.

  • Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne

July 4, 1982 was the date Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne tied the knot. Thirty-two years, two dynamic careers and three children later, they are still going strong. She has been a judge on “America’s Got Talent” and currently is a co-host on the daytime talk show “The Talk.” He is best known for his heavy-metal rock band Black Sabbath.

Celebrities face the same issues and struggles average couples do in a marriage, but their marital woes are often widely known. Famous couples who succeed in having a long-lasting union are definitely in the minority.
